SiriusXM issued a press release Monday that said it added 465,000 net new subscribers in the first quarter of 2016, resulting in a new total of 30.1 million subs as of the end of Q1. That's a record for the company. Self-pay net additions were 348,000 in the quarter, resulting in a self-pay subscriber base of 24.6 million at quarter's end. SiriusXM reports first-quarter revenue on April 28, 2016.

Banks was suffering from diabetes, however no official cause of death was announced. He was syndicated by American Urban Radio Networks. Banks' good friend Tom Joyner said, "Doug Banks wasn't just my turntable brother, he was my other brother! We did this back when urban radio made itself the best thing on the air -- and we made each other better. Chicago, radio, and afternoons will never be the same. Media Monitors has been keeping an eye on what the candidates have been doing in 82 major markets, and from April 1 to April 10, radio did not see much from either party. Bernie Sanders ran 1,107 spots with another 25 spots added by the National Nurses United Patient Protection. Hillary Clinton ran 346 radio spots with Donald Trump airing even fewer, only 168. Ted Cruz ran 59 commercials while the Trusted Leadership PAC added only 3 spots giving him 62 total spots.

A public hearing was held on Saturday for a 328-home neighborhood in Bethesda that is home to four WMAL towers. Toll Brothers is planning to buy the land from Cumulus and build the homes. Bethesda Magazine reports 150 residents showed up for the hearing where some neighbors weren't buying the traffic projections the developers were pitching. Cumulus is hoping to bank $75 to $90 million from the land if the homes are approved and the sale goes through.

Darci Ewell has been named Senior VP of Sales for iHeart's San Antonio and Austin region. Ewell joined iHeartMedia in Colorado Springs/Pueblo in January 2014 as VP of Sales, and most recently served as Market President.

That according to the weekly Media Monitors chart of radio advertisers. Burger King jumped back into the top three, airing 28,701 commercials on radio stations all across the country, and that was good enough for third place behind the Home Depot (82,713) and GEICO (41,428). McDonald's took the fourth spot airing 25,967, and Walgreens was fifth with 23,052. The USDOT catapulted from 39th to 7th place with 22,491.

On Friday, April 8, The Rush Limbaugh Show held its 26th annual on-air Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Cure-A-Thon. Limbaugh dedicated portions of his three-hour nationally syndicated radio program to encourage listeners to join the effort to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Flint, Michigan's NASH FM 95.1 (WFBE) hosted a benefit Thursday, April 7, for Hurley Children’s Hospital and Hurley Children’s Clinic, to help kids who have been exposed to lead from the city’s water.
