After a week that saw Liberty Media, which has a 64% stake in Sirius, reportedly make an offer for Pandora, it was inevitable that SiriusXM CEO Jim Meyer would be asked about that possibility. So how did it deal with it? Let's find out.

CEO Jim Meyer said second-quarter results demonstrated continued strong demand for SiriusXM's content bundle and solid execution by his team. Net income of $173 million in Q2 is up 68% over Q2 2015. For the year, SiriusXM has added 1 million new subs, about 6,000 every day. The company is also raising guidance for the full year.

Revenue for the quarter was $1.6 billion, however net income decreased 1.7% to $114 million. The company says that was mainly due to the impact of foreign exchange. Net income increased 3.6% on a constant currency basis. Audio revenues grew 1.7% on a reported and constant currency basis.

On May 2, Entercom CEO David Field announced, "It was a terrific quarter," when he reported first quarter earnings to investors and analysts. Same-station Q1 revenue increased 6% over 2015 as the company turned in its 4th consecutive quarter of growth.

Brittany Hodak, writing in Forbes, says yes and she's pointing the finger directly at radio programmers.
