A New Generation Of Radio Consumers
The U.S. Census Bureau confirms it: Millennials are now the nation’s largest generation, and nowhere is that more obvious than among the nation’s Hispanic population. Nearly six in 10 U.S. Hispanics are millennial-age or younger. That population is also growing the fastest, as one out of every four babies born in the United States today is of Hispanic descent.
iHeartMedia Brings Capitals To FM Dial
iHeartMedia Washington, DC’s 104.7 FM, is bringing the NHL's Washington Capitals to the FM dial. The station will air every Capitals game for the remainder of the NHL season. Caps games were being heard on Hubbard's Federal News Radio in DC and some games will still be heard there.

SoundCloud Chooses Triton Digital In U.S.
The audio and music platform will use Triton Digital's programmatic audio advertising exchange a2x. SoundCloud’s digital audio advertising inventory in the United States will now be part of Triton’s exchange. The addition of the U.S. market expands Triton and SoundCloud’s existing partnership, which covers Australia and Canada.
Beasley Refreshes Hispanic Format In Tampa
Beasley's new HD-2 format in Tampa is called Playa 106.9, which will also be simulcast on 92.5 (WYUU-HD2). It will feature Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata, with artists including Marc Anthony, Juan Luis Guerra, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Luis Enrique.
Research Director Launches New Product
It's called Format Tracker, which the company says will provide PDs with greater insight into their station’s ratings results. The report provides a customized selection from 118 different gender/ethnic/age groups, and gives the user the information in an organized, graphical, layout.
DGital Media Teams With Players’ Tribune
The Players’ Tribune is launching a podcast network, in partnership with DGital Media. The network will feature oral histories, athlete-hosted podcasts, a flagship show and other series. The network debuts January 26 with Giant Steps, an oral history that chronicles the rise of the Giants’ first Super Bowl championship in 1986.
GMR Asks Court To Dismiss
The latest GMR court filing states that radio stations represented by RMLC do not want real competition concerning the music they play, nor do they want to pay for the value GMR and its writers bring to the table. And GMR has asked the court to dismiss the RMLC's lawsuit for three reasons.
Judge Denies Bubba Request
In his fight with Nielsen, Bubba The Love Sponge had been challenging Nielsen's claim that certain documents were confidential. On Friday, United States District Judge James Whittemore denied Bubba's request to have those documents available for the public to see.
