iHeart Shifts Format on Rocker in Sacramento
JACK-FM is no more in Sacramento as iHeart moves to Classic Rock with the launch 93.7 The River. In addition to artists such as Queen, Aerosmith, Journey and other rockers, The station will also feature longtime Sacramento personalities The Dog & Joe Show, Monica Lowe and Derek Moore.

FCC Takes Up Entercom/CBS Merger
The Commission is asking for public comments about the proposed merger between Entercom and CBS. Anyone interested in filing petitions to deny the deal have until May 1. Oppositions to petitions to deny must be filed no later than May 11. Replies must be filed no later than May 16. The FCC document also notes the need to divest stations in 7 markets so Entercom can stay under the FCC's ownership caps.
2016 Was a Big Year For Streaming
According to the latest annual report from the Record Industry Association of America, in 2016, for the first time ever, streaming music platforms generated the majority of the U.S. music industry’s revenues. Revenue grew 11.4% in 2016 to $7.7 billion.
RTDNA Wants To Protect First Amendment
The organization is launching a task force with that goal in mind. "The goals of the task force include not only reacting to threats to First Amendment Freedoms, but proactively supporting journalists and educating the public about the importance of a free press to our democracy." Members of the task force will be meeting with broadcasters at the NAB show in Las Vegas later this month.
NAB Sets Radio Board

Warren “Rhubarb” Jones Dead at 65

That's what Philly.com is reporting. That Greenberg was leaving to take on another morning job on the Television side was the worst kept secret in radio. The fact, that he'll be making $6.5 million is the new news. Mike and Mike have been together on the radio for nearly two decades.
