(By Deborah Parenti) On Sunday, I attended a visitation for longtime Dayton radio broadcaster "Bucks" Braun. His passing was unexpected — Bucks was only 68 — but reminded me once again of the power of a radio personality.

Longtime co-host of NPR's All Things Considered Robert Siegel is leaving. Siegel worked at NPR for 41 years, hosting All Things Considered for the past 30. He started working for NPR when he was fired from the job at a New York station when it was sold in 1976. A search is underway for his replacement. Paul O’Malley has been hired as the new GM for Saga's Charleston (South Carolina) cluster of 6 stations. O’Malley is a 27+ year radio veteran, most recently serving as SVP at Westwood One. He also served as Regional President for Citadel (2003-2008).

Dave Hintz is joining Envision Networks as their new marketing director. He will be tasked with enhancing the brand of the 16-year-old company. Hintz returns to the industry after a dozen years in the corporate world, much of it marketing for Progressive Insurance.

Emmis Communications founder and Chairman/CEO Jeff Smulyan, who has also been the leading chip advocate and launched the NextRadio app, will share his ideas and advice in an exclusive one-on-one discussion with RBR+TVBR Editor-in-Chief Adam R. Jacobson at the 2018 Hispanic Radio Conference.

Edison Research is expanding. The New Jersey-based market research company is doubling in size, with the purchase of more office space at its Sommerville offices. The company also made several promotions and a new hire.

Dina “Dina B” Bonanni has been promoted to afternoon drive host on WKIS-FM, Kiss 99.9 Miami. She will host from 2:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. and will also engage with listeners across the station’s social media channels. Dina B. has been with WKIS-FM since 2010.

WECK (AM 1230 & FM 102.9) in Buffalo has hired Buffalo broadcasting veteran Joe Chille to host afternoons. For more than 30 years, Chille hosted mornings at Buffalo’s 96.1 WJYE (now WMSX) and served as operations manager for JOY and its sister stations WBLK, Jack-FM and WYRK, until 2012.
