The ten-day Kellar Radio Talent Institute kicks off today at Appalachian State University. Twenty-five students from four universities have been accepted into the Institute. There are no breakout sessions; every student will be in every session, including the RAB Radio Marketing Professional Certification course.

Chicago Talk radio station, WLS-AM 890, has partnered with the Chicago Automobile Trade Association to create a show all about the city’s storied car culture. DriveChicago, will air on WLS-AM 890 and at wlsam.com on Saturday mornings, 8-9 a.m. 

Radio veteran Cort  Johnson is returning to Portland’s heritage AAA station 101.9 KINK FM as Assistant Program Director and afternoon drive host. After several years in the industry, Johnson moved to Portland in 2011.

Sean Hannity is headed to Singapore and will broadcast The Sean Hannity Show from there all this week to cover the June 12 summit between President Donald Trump and North Korea Leader Kim Jong Un.

Radio One St. Louis (WFUN-FM & WHHL-FM) has named Derrick “Lil’D” Greene as its new Operations Manager. Greene comes from iHeart Media Columbus/Albany, GA, where he was Senior Vice President of 11 radio stations

Jack Lessenberry has joined 910 AM Superstation (WFDF/Detroit). Lessenberry, a former foreign correspondent for the Detroit News will begin hosting a two-hour show beginning July 9.

Chris Walus is the new Director of Sales for Adams Radio Group’s Salisbury-Ocean City, MD, cluster. For the past nine years Walus has served as regional President & Market Manager for iHeartRadio in that region.

WTOP’s national security correspondent J.J. Green has won the 31st Annual Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense. Each year, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation awards two distinguished journalism prizes, one for reporting on the Presidency and the other for reporting on National Defense.
