On Saturday, the Colorado Broadcasters Association returned to a live Awards of Excellence Gala to recognize Colorado’s best broadcasters. Over 400 broadcasters gathered at the Denver Grand Hyatt. Colorado Public Radio's KCFR-FM was named metro market station of the year.

Long-Time Illinois Host Dies

WDWS, Champaign, IL host Jim Turpin died Sunday at the age of 90. Turpin called Illini football and men’s basketball for 42 years, retiring from the booth in 2002. He was VP/GM of WDWS and WHMS in Champaign and for years hosted WDWS’ “Penny For Your Thoughts” through 2017.

Committee Passes Act to Protect Journalists

On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee voted to pass H.R. 4330, the Protect Reporters from Exploitative State Spying Act. The goal of the Act is to protect journalists from being compelled to reveal confidential sources and prevent federal law enforcement from abusing subpoena power.
