The 46th Annual Gracie Awards were held and streamed virtually this week. The alliance for Women in Media Foundation gala was hosted by Lauren Ash and featured performance from Jewel and CeCe Winans.
Hubbard’s Chicago Problem
Popular Chicago morning show host Eric Ferguson is off the air after a third allegation of inappropriate behavior was reported. Hubbard Market Manager Jeff England has taken the host off the air through October and alerted staff to brace for more press stories about Ferguson.
Cumulus Completes FM Deal Near Topeka
Intrepid Companies has closed on the purchase of KDVB-FM in Effingham, Kansas, from Cumulus. The price was $300,000 with a CP to modify. Intrepid is headed by Don Sherman, who plans to relocate the tower closer to Topeka, and upgrade to a Class C2. Eddie Esserman of Media Services Group’s represented Cumulus in the transaction.
TUDN Signs MLB Deal
Univision’s TUDN and Major League Baseball have signed a multi-year agreement naming TUDN Radio the official Spanish-language radio partner of MLB in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The deal provides exclusive coverage on TUDN Radio of select games during the postseason and the entire World Series.

La Pantera 96.1 (The Panther) is on the air, serving Hilton Head, SC. Dick Broadcasting flipped the oldies station, WHHW-FM to the Spanish language format.

10 Radio Companies Ask For Relaxed Ownership Rules
Yesterday we reported about the NAB filing new comments with the FCC asking the Commission to loosen ownership caps for radio. Another filing was made by 10 radio companies, requesting a change in the rules, because digital companies have swooped in and taken 50% of their ad revenue.
NAB Admits Listening, Revenue Declining
In new comments filed with the FCC, the NAB is again calling on The Commission to loosen ownership caps for radio. Two big reasons the NAB is calling for more deregulation is radio's declining revenue and audience due to the competition it's facing.
