WIP Extends Agreement With Phillies
CBS Radio's SportsRadio 94WIP in Philadelphia has extended its partnership for play-by-play coverage of the Philadelphia Phillies. Details of the new deal were not released. CBS Radio in Philadelphia has had the Phillies since 2004 with WIP-FM broadcasting the games the past five seasons. Scott Franzke, Larry Andersen, and Jim Jackson will continue to announce the games.
Ramsey Tackles Fake News Stories
In his latest episode of Media Unplugged Mark Ramsey addresses the debate over “fake news” on Facebook. Ramsey says everyone is missing the larger point: "The problem isn’t with the manufacturing of false headlines, it’s with the relationship between facts and beliefs in the human psyche. We are the problem -- our facts are not. Ramsey and Tom Asacker explain it all in their latest episode of Media Unplugged.
Kingsely To Host 11 Songwriters At CRS
On February 23 at CRS, 11 of Country Music's most successful songwriters will perform at Bob Kingsley's Acoustic Alley. Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, JT Harding, Laura Veltz, Luke Laird, Ashley Gorley, Brett James, Rhett Akins, Busbee, Jon Nite, and Cole Taylor are all set to perform. It's the sixth year for Kingsely's after-hours CRS event.
Cain Exiting Syndication
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Cain will remain on five Cox Media Group news/talk radio stations but will no longer be syndicated nationally. The change will affect over 100 stations. The 70-year-old has been syndicated nationwide since January of 2013, taking over for Neal Boortz.
Mobile Ignites Strong Holiday Spending
According to Adobe Digital Insights, consumers slapped down $3.34 billion online on Black Friday, that's an increase of 21.6% from 2015. On Thanksgiving day $1.4 billion was spent for a two-day total of more than $5 Billion, an increase of 11.5% over 2015. $1.2 Billion of that spending was placed using a mobile device, a 33% increase over 2015. Adobe says consumers have spent a total of $26 Billion online for the holiday season between Nov. 1 and Nov. 22, up 3.5% from 2015. Adobe measures 80% of all online transactions from the top 100 U.S. retailers.
