Local Radio Freedom Act Gains More Support

You can add another five Members of the House of Representatives to the list of cosponsors of the bipartisan resolution that opposes "any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge" on local broadcast radio stations. The Local Radio Freedom Act now has 185 cosponsors in the House and 22 in the Senate.

JVC Sells Florida FM

Broker Michael Bergner tells Radio Ink the selling price for WXJZ-FM in Gainesville was $500,000. Marc Radio is the buyer, which also owns four FMs and two AMs in the Gainesville market. JVC is not selling off its stations. Owner John Caracciolo tells Radio Ink this was simply an offer he could not turn down. JVC still has three stations in the Gainesville market.

Pistons Return To CBS Radio

The Detroit Pistons and CBS Radio Detroit announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to a multi-year deal with "97.1 FM The Ticket" (WXYT), making the station the team’s radio flagship partner beginning with the 2017-18 season.
