We all know that air checks are a standard yet critical tool in the radio industry. Whether it be for campaign verification or programming evaluation, the air check process has not changed very much in the last 50 years -- it is still fairly laborious and time consuming. While the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has been touted as game changing for a variety of industries, the radio industry can also leverage this technology to its advantage.

All is right in the radio world as The Home Depot returned to the top spot on the weekly Media Monitors chart. The big box Home Improvement chain aired 53,468 commercials last week well ahead of the U.S. Department of Transportation (38,923).

Aerostar Communications of Utah is purchasing KEGH-FM (Woodruff, UT) along with booster stations KEGH-FM1 (Ogden), KEGH-FM2 (Bountiful, UT), KEGH-FM3 (Salt Lake City), KEGH-FM4 (Provo) for $1,100,000 cash. KEGH-FM has been in the SLC Divestiture Trust II for 6 years. It was part of the Simmons Media Group divestiture in the Salt Lake market.

Beasley Media Group, in conjunction with Marketron Interactive and Xperi, have partnered with Dan Vallie's National Radio Talent System to unveil the Beasley Radio Talent Institute in Boston. The 10-day program will debut next summer at Emerson College. CEO Caroline Beasley said the company is committed to supporting and encouraging the development of new talent.

Alpha Media’s News-Talk 1480 WHBC and Mix 94.1 raised the huge total along with AultCare for Wishes Can Happen, Inc. The Wish-A-Thon took place on August 10-11. Over the last 10 years, $1,037,862 has been raised for Wishes Can Happen.

Wilfrid Salomon of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida has ten days to shut down the illegal radio station the FCC caught him operating in July at 107.1-FM in Oakland Park. The Commission says Salomon was operating the pirate station from a commercial suite in Oakland Park.

Radio, in general, has been doing an outstanding job all around during what is a horrible situation in Texas. Specifically, iHeartMedia's News Radio KTRH is one of those stations you simply cannot turn off if you want to know exactly what's going on in that area and how the local residents are feeling.

CBS Radio has also been working hard to keep the Houston area residents informed and safe, despite having major issues with employees affected by the storm. CBS Houston Market Manager Sarah Frazier tells Radio Ink all CBS Radio employees are safe however many have lost their homes.

Woof Boom Radio has added five Lima, Ohio-area stations. Woof Boom is forming a new entity that will do business in Lima as The Childers Media Group. Once the acquisition is completed later this year, Woof Boom Radio will own and operate 11 local radio stations throughout East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio.
