The comments started piling up immediately after Cumulus CEO Mary Berner said "Radio needs to grow a pair," in her first ever radio industry conference appearance Tuesday at CRS. The reality of her comment is that other Radio CEO's have been saying the same thing, perhaps using other words, for years. So why did Berner's comments tick so many people off?

During her CRS interview, Cumulus CEO Mary Berner said, from a day-to-day standpoint, the restructure means nothing. She said the decision to file for bankruptcy was purely a business transaction and on the operational side it's business as usual.

Cumulus CEO Mary Berner has never shied away from criticizing the previous leadership at Cumulus. Tuesday was no different when she was interviewed by Emmis New York Market Manager Charlie Morgan at CRS.

The Academy of Country Music announced Radio Awards nominees for the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards, Wednesday, including double nominations for KAJA-FM in San Antonio, TX, KHAY-FM in Ventura, CA, KUBL-FM in Salt Lake City, UT, KUZZ-AM/FM in Bakersfield, CA, WFMS-FM in Indianapolis, IN, and WIL-FM in St. Louis, MO.

Hence, it is entirely predictable that licensees of 6-kilowatt Class A FM stations would desire to double their power with a new FM classification known as Class C4. But, the effect of Class C4 power increases on FM translators carrying AM and HD sub-channel stations may bear some resemblance to the plastic explosive of the same name.
