Spanish Broadcasting System’s newest Miami station is getting international recognition just months after signing on. The Consul of Colombia presented Caracol America 106.3 (WRAZ) with an award, citing the station’s growing popularity among Colombian listeners.
The recognition came during a visit by the Consul of Colombia to the station’s studios in Miami. The station launched in January as part of a partnership between Spanish Broadcasting System, Prisa Media, and Caracol Radio, targeting the growing Hispanic audio market across the US.
Caracol America is the US extension of one of Colombia’s largest radio networks, founded in Medellín in 1948 and owned by Grupo PRISA, the Spanish media conglomerate behind Prisa Media. In January, Radio Ink reported that SBS, Prisa Media, and Caracol Radio had formed a partnership to launch and distribute Spanish-language audio content across the US. SBS says Caracol America, which can also be streamed on the LaMusica app, is the first of many marketplace collaborations planned under the Prisa Media partnership.
