The holiday season continues to bring an outpouring of generosity from Country radio stations across the nation, as markets from the Bay Area to Boston host radiothons to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – raising millions to fight cancer.

Alpha Media’s Bay Country 94.5/92.1 (KBAY/KKDV) hosted its third annual Radiothon benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on December 5 and 6. The two-day event raised $176,483.

Bay Country Market Manager David Drutz reflected on the event’s success, stating, “This was Bay Country’s third St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Radiothon and in many ways can be considered our most successful to date. Bay Country is incredibly grateful to have a dedicated and loyal audience that is so supportive of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s efforts to defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.”

Beasley Media Group’s 92.5 XTU in Philadelphia raised $321,394 from December 5-6, featuring live broadcasts from the station’s on-air personalities from 6a to 7p.

Beasley Fayetteville’s WKML and Sunny 94.3 raised $207,273 on December 11 and 12. WKML Program Director Sarah Weaver said, “The funds raised during this year’s radiothon will go directly toward supporting St. Jude’s mission: ensuring no child dies in the dawn of life. We are honored to partner with St. Jude and to witness the incredible generosity of our community in action.”

This builds on money already raised by stations like iHeartMedia Boston’s 101.7 The Bull, iHeart Quad Cities’ WLLR, and a Rock radio record $1.292 million collected by Meruelo Media’s KLOS in Los Angeles.
