After a string of true-crime podcasts, Dateline NBC Correspondent Keith Morrison is shifting gears. Morrison is stepping away from real-life murders and mysteries to narrate classic fiction in Morrison Mysteries. The series premieres on October 23, with additional episodes planned for the coming months to coincide with holiday themes.
His previous podcast, Murder in Apartment 12, focused on the mysterious death of Arkansas beauty queen Nona Dirksmeyer. The podcast debuted in September and climbed to the top of the Apple Podcasts chart. It currently holds the third spot. Other podcast series from Morrison, such as The Thing About Pam and The Girl in the Blue Mustang, have also performed well on Apple’s podcast charts.
The transition was sparked by a proposal from Dateline special projects senior producer Charmian Ling, Morrison’s collaborator for nearly 23 years. Morrison will kick off the series with a narration of Washington Irving’s 1820 short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The story will be broken down into three episodes.
