ABC Audio has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming six-part podcast series, Reclaimed: The Forgotten League. Hosted by Vanessa Ivy Rose, the series delves into the history of the Negro Leagues in baseball, focusing particularly on her grandfather, Norman “Turkey” Stearnes, and other Black players who were sidelined from Major League Baseball due to racial segregation.

Reclaimed: The Forgotten League is the latest installment in ABC Audio’s award-winning Reclaimed series. The first two episodes are set to release on October 2, with new episodes rolling out weekly throughout the month.

Before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in 1947, Black players had no option but to form their own league, which originated in 1920. The podcast examines how the Negro Leagues grew into a significant economic force in Black communities. Rose explores this rich history through interviews with Negro Leagues player Ron Teasley, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick, and baseball researcher Kevin Johnson, among others.

The podcast also discusses how Major League Baseball and the National Baseball Hall of Fame are currently addressing this historical oversight. Notably, MLB committed in 2020 to incorporating Negro Leagues statistics into its official records.

Earlier this year, the series earned several accolades, including the Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Podcast.
