Rhode Island Inducting Plenty Of Radio Names Into Hall Of Fame

The Rhode Island Radio and TV Hall of Fame has announced its class of 2023 to be inducted at its annual ceremony on September 21. Of the seven broadcasters chosen for the honor, four come from radio.

Chris Camp is a radio news anchor and reporter who has been with Cumulus Media’s WPRO Radio since 1995. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Associated Press Award for Best Radio Newscast and the Rhode Island Press Association Award for Best Radio Reporter.

Doug Palmieri is the Program Director and On-Air Personality for iHeartMedia’s WHIY and WSNE, two of IHeartMedia’s radio stations in Rhode Island. He has been in radio for over 30 years and has worked at stations across America.

John Parente is the Vice President of DiPonti Communications, which owns WWRI AM/FM. He has been in the radio industry for over 40 years and has held a variety of positions, including Program Director, General Manager, and Owner.

Gene Valicenti is a retired radio and television personality who worked in Rhode Island for over 50 years. He was the morning show host on WIAR-TV and WPRO Radio known for his wit and charm.

Other inductees include Danielle North, a former anchor at WPRI-TV, Pam Watts from RI PBS, and Jack White, an investigative reporter from WPRI-TV.
