He helped to break Nirvana, Beck, Weezer, Foo Fighters, and Garbage in the 1990s, and now a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is switching frequencies in Seattle. Hubbard AAA 98.9 KPNW is adding Marco Collins to afternoons starting May 1st. He was previously part of the on-air staff at KEXP until earlier this month.
This is KPNW’s second major hire announcement since a format flip earlier this year. In early April, they announced the pick up of three-decade Puget Sound radio veteran John Fisher for middays.
“The future of 98.9 KPNW just got a bit brighter with the addition of Marco”, stated Hubbard Seattle Operations Manager Scott Mahalick. “He is an exceptional talent, with rich knowledge and deep understanding of the local PNW Music scene”.
Collins exclaimed, “It’s rare that you get an opportunity to join a radio station in its earliest incarnation! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for KPNW! It’s an honor that I get to help steer it. Just the fact that we’ll be supporting the local music scene gets me pumped!”
