Hardware and home renovation retailer Home Depot ran the most commercial spots on stations across the United States, according to new data released on Monday.
The data collated and reported by Media Monitors showed spots for the Home Depot ran a total of 42,244 times during the Thanksgiving holiday week. Dish-owned wireless phone provider Boost Mobile came in second, with more than 36,700 spots.
Employment services provider Indeed, which had held the top position for most-spots run for three consecutive weeks, was not included in Media Monitors’ list of top 100 brands to advertise on radio for the Thanksgiving week. Progressive, which had jockeyed with Indeed for the top rank, ran just 8,020 spots on stations during the week.
Among retailers, Kohl’s was in the top five companies to run spots on commercial radio during the Thanksgiving holiday, with more than 33,900 spots. J.C. Penney was second among retailers advertising on radio, running 29,820 spots. Many brick-and-mortar and online retailers started Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in early November over concerns that consumers wouldn’t spend as much this year due to inflation and other economic factors (these fears were somewhat assuaged when reports indicated consumers spent billions to grab Black Friday deals).
The top 5 radio spots last week were:
- The Home Depot (42,244)
- Boost Mobile (36,737)
- Kohl’s (33,984)
- Lowe’s (33,697)
- State Farm (31,884)
