Airing 39,213 commercials on radio stations all across America, GEICO was radio’s number one advertiser last week, according to Media Monitors. Flipping places with GEICO was The Home Depot which was second with 39,127 spots. Rounding out the top five were employment service company Indeed.com (36,240), Tax prep company Jackson Hewitt (31,602), and Walgreen’s (27,573).
I think this list needs to be broken down by how many of these commercials were bought nationally/regionally, and how many were bought locally. It’s a bit misleading to compare commercials bought through syndication, where each unit bought airs on multiple stations, and those bought directly from the stations they air on.
