The Department of Transportation in Washington D.C. has launched a $221,000 radio ad campaign to promote its new transportation service. The catchy jingle starts out with “Streetcar, Streetcar, cruising along. Streetcar, Streetcar, singing a song.”

A DOT spokesman told ABC 7 that, “With any new transit system, with anything, you want to promote it, raise awareness around it.” The TV station reports the streetcar project spanned three mayors and cost $200 million for 2.4 miles of track. And it costs $8 million a year to operate.
