ABC Radio has announced a series of programs – both long-form and short-form – looking back at the major stories and events of 2016. Here’s the full list…
Long-Form Programs:
- Playback 2016 is a one-hour special anchored by ABC News Radio’s Cheri Preston and Aaron Katersky featuring an inside look at the biggest stories of the year and the newsmakers behind those stories.
- Perspective, ABC News Radio’s weekly news magazine, reports on the year in politics, the terror attacks in Brussels, the Pulse Nightclub attack, and the sniper attacks on police in Dallas.
- World News This Year takes a look back at the major news events of the past year in 2016’s final edition of this weekly show.
- 2016 As It Happened is a three-hour retrospective of some of 2016’s top stories, as told through highlights of our breaking news coverage, providing listeners the opportunity to hear how some of the biggest events of the year unfolded live on ABC News Radio.
- In Donald Trump: The Making of a President, ABC World News Tonight Sunday Anchor Tom Llamas, who spent over 500 days on the campaign trail covering Trump, takes listeners through the making of the president-elect. The report includes interviews with Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager; Lara Trump, Eric Trump’s wife; Omarosa Manigault, former contestant on The Apprentice; Lynne Patton, Director of the Eric Trump Foundation and former Trump assistant; and Richard LeFrak, Trump’s friend for 50 years.

- 2016 in Review takes a look at the biggest stories of 2016, including the Brussels Terror Attack, Orlando Nightclub Shooting, Syrian Refugee Crisis, Oakland warehouse fire and more.
- 2016 in Entertainment features the headline-grabbers of 2016, including Top TV of 2016, The Year of Hamilton, The Year in Music, Stars and the Election and more.
- 2016 in Sports features the biggest sports stories of the year and the athletes behind them. This series remembers the Death of Muhammad Ali, the Cubs winning the World Series, the 2016 Summer Olympics and more.
- 2016 In Politics features an audio look at President-elect Trump, the race to the White House, a tick-tock of election night, the rise of outside candidates, and a look at President Obama’s last year in office.
- Tech Trends 2016 looks at which tech trends succeeded, which ones failed, and how technology continues to change our daily lives.
- The Top Toys of 2016 provides helpful tips as you shop for toys, games, and gifts for kids, and features the top 20 toys of 2016 for kids 0-18, the hottest technology that inspires fun and learning and more.
- Law and Justice 2016 in Review takes a look back at some of the most important and interesting court cases and judicial action from 2016.
