Detroit’s Drew & Mike Find Success With Podcasting

They were a mainstay on morning radio at WRIF-FM in Detroit for 10 years, but like all hosts, eventually things come to an end. Luckily, these days there’s an easy, if not inexpensive way, to stay connected to your listeners and deliver your content. Now Drew Lane and Mike Clark are taping a daily podcast from Lane’s basement. Fox 2 in Detroit has the details about the former morning men who now reach 20,000 people every day with their popular podcast.

Fox 2 details the careers of Lane and Clark, who were replaced on WRIF in 2013. “Lane sat on the sidelines and instead of waiting for his phone to ring with an offer, he spent thousands of dollars on equipment for his basement studio. Lane tells the TV station he’s not making money yet but that’s about to change. “We’ve had a lot of inquiries,” he told Fox. “We definitely can sell advertising. I just wanted to get the show established, see what kind of audience we could build, and then worry about that. Now we’re at that point and I think we’ll be able to do it.”

He also said he’d like to eventually get back on the air. “Yeah, I do have interest. There’s a place or two I could work in this town.”
