Cumulus Chattanooga Morning Host Arrested
According to the ABC-TV affiliate WGOW-FM morning show co-host Jim Reynolds has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse. A police affidavit states Reynolds, his wife and daughter got into an altercation over the daughter's phone use.
Charlie Is Keeping It KOOL
Charlie Huero has signed a new multi-year agreement as afternoon host and APD at CBS Radio's KOOL-FM in Phoenix. Huero began his run at KOOL-FM in 2011 when he was appointed APD and midday host. He's also worked in La Crosse, Milwaukee, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Antonio.
Cannell Is New Orleans Bound
Paul Cannell is the new PD at Alt 92.3 /WZRH-FM and NASH FM 106.1/WRK in New Orleans. Cannell has worked as a PD and host for stations in Wilmington, NC, Columbia, SC, Richmond, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. He was also Digital Managing Editor for WKBU, New Orleans, and for Townsquare Media’s six stations in Shreveport.
Lady La Hits The Airwaves In Phoenix
She’ll be on-air talent for iHeart stations Mix 96.9 and 104.7 KISS FM. Lady La previously worked as morning host for KALV-FM as well as for KKFR-FM. “It’s obvious to me that Phoenix wants Lady La back on the radio,” said Mat Mitchell, Program Director for 104.7 KISS FM and Mix 96.9.
Keegan Gets Programming VP Stripes
Marcia Keegan has been named vice president, national radio programming and production at ESPN Radio. She will oversee all talk programming content on the national network. She will retain responsibility for ESPN’s packaged show productions which handles approximately 1,000 hours of programming produced by outside vendors.
Claus Retiring After 35 Years
The past 10 of those years Chris Claus has been VP and Market Manager for the Entercom New Orleans cluster. Prior to joining Entercom, Claus served as VP and General Manager for stations in San Diego, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Entercom did not announce his replacement.
After 36 Years Smitty Is Calling It A Day
Smitty O’Loughlin, Market Manager of Community Broadcasters Elmira cluster, after 36 years in the radio industry – the last four years with Community Broadcasters – will be retiring August 15. O’Loughlin began his radio career in Fort Smith Arkansas in 1981. He has worked in Arkansas markets, and also Missouri, finishing up his illustrious career in Elmira-Corning.
Two Execs Upped At Superadio
The executives who’ve been promoted are Rich O’Brien (pictured right), who has been elevated to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Programming and Affiliate Relations, and Eric Faison who has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Programming and Affiliate Relations.
Morgan For Middays At B98.5 (WSB-FM)
The Atlanta station has brought in Charly Morgan to head up their midday show. Morgan is currently the morning drive co-host on “Your Georgia Country” (WNGC/Athens) and has also been handling midday fill-in on B98.5 since May 2017.
Mills Makes The Move To Beasley
Beasley Media Group has hired Steve Mills to program WDRR-FM in Augusta. Mills most recently served as a producer for Sound Solutions, a subsidiary of Cumulus Media. Previous to that, he worked as the Operations Manager for Midwest Communications and was the Corporate Digital Manager for Cumulus and Westwood One in Atlanta.
