WIP, Phillies Extend Agreement
The Philadelphia Phillies and SportsRadio 94WIP have extended their broadcast partnership for play-by-play of Phillies pre-season, regular season and post-season games. The new deal keeps all games on the FM dial. In a contract signed yesterday, it was stipulated that games would air only on WIP (94.1 FM). In the last few years, Phillies games were heard on both WIP-FM and WPHT-AM.
iHeartMedia Promotes Daily in Tampa
Travis Daily has been named Region Senior VP of Programming for the Tampa region, which includes Sarasota. Daily will keep his position as PD for WFUS-FM in Tampa. Daily has consistently been on Radio Ink's Best Country PD list. iHeart has 13 radio stations in Tampa and Sarasota.
Gann Promoted in Austin/San Antonio Region
iHeartMedia also announced on Wednesday that Brian Gann has been promoted to Director of Operations for Spoken Word in the Austin-San Antonio region. He will oversee WOAI and KTKR in San Antonio and KVET-AM in Austin. Gann has been with iHeartMedia since January of 2014 where he served as the PD for WOAI and KTKR. Before San Antonio, Gann was the Ops Manager for Journal in Tulsa for more than 23 years.

Host Booted From Syndicated Show
Apparently a rift between Eric Zane and Townsquare has lead to Zane no longer being part of the trio that made up the syndicated "Free Beer & Hot Wings" show. Gregg Daniel and Chris Michaels hosted the show with Zane and according to a statement from the hosts, Zane is out. "Our parent company and he have severed ties which means that it is impossible for us to carry on with him." No additional details were given.
Walgreens Tops Chart For Fourth Week
That's four consecutive weeks as the top radio advertiser according to Media Monitors. Walgreens placed over 57,000 ads on radio stations all over the country last week.
Nielsen Conducting Election Research For Radio
The Katz Radio Group has commissioned Nielsen to conduct the research study which will focus on the local political media landscape during the primary election season, from February to April 2016. The 12-week study is called “The Local Vote 2016” and a release from Katz says that this new data when complete will deliver "unprecedented insights and value to political advertisers’ radio campaigns during a crucial decision-making time for voters."
RAB Set to Host Four Sessions at NAB Show
The Radio Advertising Bureau will present four sales and marketing sessions in Las Vegas this April. The sessions are called: Radio’s Lunch and Learn: Creating Sustainable Performance, Small & Medium Radio Markets Idea Exchange, From Surviving to Thriving in Radio Sales and Digital Strategies Exchange for Radio Workshop.
WLW Host Arrested on Drug Charges
WLW Radio personality and local defense attorney faces charges of drug possession and operating a vehicle while impaired, according to TV station WCPO in Cincinnati. Wells was charged after being stopped by a trooper on I-75 after a call about an erratic driver.
