Adams Brings Oldies Back to New Mexico

Adams Radio Group is putting an Oldies format on KWML AM 570 and FM translator (104.5) in Las Cruces. And here’s why Adams decided to go back in time…

The company said, “As markets around the country moved away from this great format over the past decade, so did Las Cruces. What we seemed to forget along the way was there is a huge audience, the baby boomers, with far more discretionary money than millennials that were ignored in the process. The return of KOOL Oldies to Las Cruces gives the 55-plus audience back their own radio station with the music they love.”

The format will include such artists as: the Animals, Aretha Franklin, Barry White, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, tons of Motown, Elton John, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac…essentially all the music of the 60s and 70s. “We are recreating a Top 40 station from the 60s and 70s,” said Aaron Criswell, VP/GM of Adams Radio Las Cruces. “AM 570 was Top 40 from 1955 through the 1970s and a top-rated station in the market. We want to give that generation their station back.”

  1. The question remains: While the tunes are still groovy, how is the rest of the station going to sound…?
Primarily, however – a good play.
