103,000 Attend NAB Show in Vegas

They are preliminary numbers, however, the NAB says registered attendance for the 2016 show was 103,012, about the same at 2015. Nearly 27,000 attendees were from outside the U.S. and over 1,600 representatives from the media were on hand. The show featured 1,874 companies spanning 1,063,380 net square feet of exhibit space.

Those were the words of FCC Chairman Thomas Wheeler at the NAB Show Wednesday. Although many wonder if the FCC has done way too little, way too late, to make that statement a reality. Nielsen Q1 Revenue Up 2%

With $1.5 billion in the first quarter of 2016, Nielsen revenue was up 2.0%, or 5.2% on a constant currency basis, compared to the first quarter of 2015. The Audio Division revenue (which includes the old Arbitron) grew 0.8% on a constant currency basis, which Nielsen says was what was expected.

Brewster Takes Over Cherry Creek

Jonathan Brewster is the new CEO of Cherry Creek Radio, taking over for Joe Scwhartz who resigned in February after 14 years with the company. Brewster's experience is in small and mid-sized markets having formerly served as SVP of Qantum Communications. Cherry Creek has 53 radio stations in 11 markets in the Rocky Mountain region.

Dodgers Renew With Univision

The L.A. Dodgers and Univision have renewed their Spanish-language radio broadcast deal, which will keep the games airing on KTNQ-AM 1020 in L.A. through the 2018 baseball season. KTNQ will air eight spring trainnig games, the 162-game regular season, and any postseason games. Financial terms were not disclosed.
