iHeartMedia West Palm Beach says that Rich Dickerson will retire from The Love Doctors on December 16. The Love Doctors airs afternoons on WZZR-FM Real Radio 94.3. Dickerson launched The Love Doctors in 1991 on WZZR-FM after hosting an earlier incarnation of the show on iHeartMedia rock station WKGR-FM.

Former NABOB Board Member Bill Shearer Passes

William (Bill) Shearer, a member of the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) Board of Directors in the 1980s and 90s, passed away November 1 after a lengthy illness. During his NABOB Board tenure, Shearer was the General Manager and then eventual owner of KGFJ-AM in Los Angeles.

Original Buys Two In Illinois

WRUL-FM and WROY-AM/Carmi, IL, as well as W119AU-FM/Fairfield, go from Withers Broadcasting to The Original Company for $390,000 cash at closing. Original, which has 15 other stations in Southwestern Indiana and Southeastern Illinois, is headed up by President Mark Lange. Patrick Communications represented seller Withers Broadcasting in the deal. 

Beasley Does The Holiday Flip in Florida

Wednesday’s the day that Sunny 106.3 WJPT-FM, switched its format to all holiday-themed music. Market Manager, Brad Beasley said, “Sunny 106.3’s holiday music line-up has become a Southwest Florida tradition.
