Craig Carton Resigns From WFAN
The number one sports radio station in America has been facing some tough issues lately, and now has some equally tough decisions to make. This soon-to-be Entercom New York City station was originally dealing only with the resignation of ratings superstar afternoon host Mike Francesa, whose contract is up at the end of the year. Now, its ten-year old morning show is broken, with the resignation of Craig Carton.
CBS Radio’s CEO Gets FCC Call
CBS Radio President and CEO Andre Fernandez has been selected by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to serve on the Commission’s Advisory Committee on Diversity and Digital Empowerment. The ACDDE’s mission is to provide recommendations to the FCC on how to empower disadvantaged communities and accelerate the entry of small businesses into the media, digital news and information, and audio and video programming industries.
Larry Glover Moves To Middays
The award-winning talk radio personality takes up the midday slot at News Talk 590 WVLK-AM/Lexington, moving from 6-8 p.m. drive. Glover’s new show debuts September 13 and will air weekdays from 12 Noon-3 p.m. Glover’s peers honored him as the 2008 Kentucky Sportscaster of the Year.
Radio Returning From Irma’s Blast
Stations that were in the direct path of Hurricane Irma are still repairing or replacing damaged equipment, drying out from flooding, and fixing battered buildings. The FCC reported late on Wednesday that 39 radio stations are still off the air due to Hurricane Irma. That total is down from 51 on Tuesday.
Pai, Clyburn To Visit Florida
The two FCC commissioners will inspect the hurricane damage on Monday, September 18. They will also meet with those engaged in recovery operations, and receive updates about the ongoing efforts to restore communications services.
WJTQ-FM’s New Rose
The Pensacola Classic Hits-Rock station has named Britt Rose the new Afternoon Drive personality. She switches Cumulus stations, coming from Oklahoma City’s KQOB and KATT to Florida. She debuts on Jet 100.7 on Wednesday, September 13, from 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

NLRB Moving Forward With SBS Complaint
According to a press release from SAG-AFTRA in Los Angeles, the National Labor Relations Board in is moving forward with a formal complaint of unfair labor practice charges filed by SAG-AFTRA against SBS. SBS CEO Raul Alarcon has said he plans to fight the charges, stating they are "not only totally false and malicious, they are, in fact, an insult to the talented and professional on-air personnel the union claims to represent.”
