Sirius XM CEO Adds Another Year
According to Seeking Alpha SiriusXM CEO Jim Meyer will be staying on for at least one more year. Meyer was named interim CEO in December of 2012 when Mel Karmazin left. In 2013 the interim title was dropped. Meyer makes just under $2 million per year in salary plus bonuses that could make him close to $10 million, according to Seeking Alpha.
Luchs Lands On Duke Wright’s Team
Midwest Communications has hired Kurt Luchs (pictured) to manage its five stations in Kalamazoo. Luchs recently parted ways with NRG Media where he was managing NRG's seven-station cluster in Omaha. Midwest also announced Mark Jaycox will manage its four-station cluster in Lansing.
Cumulus Fires Jeff Styles
This is a follow-up to a story we've been keeping an eye on since June when WGOW Chattanooga morning man Jeff Styles was arrested in a road rage incident. The station released this short statement on Monday: "The company has concluded its internal investigation of the situation and has decided to end our relationship with Jeff Styles.”
Lewis Leaving Cumulus
After three years with Cumulus/Westwood One as VP of Social Media, Lori Lewis' last day will be September 14.
Radio National Flat In July
According to Standard Media Index, national advertising revenue for radio was flat in July while digital jumped a whopping 17% and television rose 3%. On the bright side for radio, at least it wasn't as bad as print, which saw national revenue decline 18% in July.
FCC Commissioner O’Rielly To Appear At Radio Show
O'Rielly will headline a session titled "FCC Commissioner Michael O’Rielly Discusses Radio Policy" at the 2018 Radio Show in Orlando. The Commissioner will discuss his outlook on regulation of the radio industry and what licensees can expect in the near future.
Guess Who’s Number One Again?
The Home Depot ramped back up its radio usage across the country airing 58,655 commercials, according to Media Monitors. That helped the big-box chain jump back into the top spot on the weekly chart.
