Chicago radio broadcast veteran Brian Peck has been named on-air host of evenings on 94.7 WLS. Peck debuts in the 7:00 p.m.-12:00 midnight slot tonight.

(By Ronald Robinson) In the past week I've "been to the coalface," so to speak, and gently debated some of the issues I've discussed in this blog with someone who has the hands-on experience to make a strong case for whatever his views are. Here is a portion of the discussion I have been enjoying with a former station owner.

After over 51 years of media and radio broadcasting, Paul J Schneider has decided it is time to retire from NewsTalk 670 KBOI/Boise, ID. Schneider moved to Boise and started his career at KBOI in June of 1967.

Nashville’s TalkRadio 1510 WLAC will now simulcast on 98.3 FM. The 98.3 FM signal will broadcast across the southern portions of the Nashville area, including Williamson County and the Franklin area. WLAC will also now be heard on WSIX-FM on HD-2 and continue to broadcast on 1510 AM.

A Texas bankruptcy judge issued an order Thursday approving the disclosures and solicitation materials for iHeartMedia's Chapter 11 plan. With this latest approval iHeartMedia is now closer to restructuring $16 billion in debt and emerging from bankruptcy a stronger company.

Slacker Radio debuted Shoudout, a new content monetization and social platform, on Slacker's Pop Remix channel. Slacker says Shoudout was inspired by the old radio "shout outs."

Digital solutions provider SoCast has launched a new digital ad platform called SoCast Ads. The new product was created to help local sellers use data from their station’s website, app, and social media pages along with other digital products.

Candy Cintron has been named to the role of Program Director for El Zol 107.9 (WLZL-FM) in Washington, DC. She previously held the roles of Assistant Program Director and morning show Producer for the station since 2015.

Alternative station, 102.1 The Edge (CFNY-FM/Toronto) names Ruby Carr and Alex Carr as the new hosts of the station’s morning show, debuting January 2019. A dynamic sister and brother duo, Ruby and Alex will become the first pair of siblings to permanently co-host an FM radio morning show in Canada.

Tech company Vipology has announced long-term partnerships with nationally recognized broadcasters Local Media San Diego, Leighton Broadcasting, Auburn Network Inc., Dickey Broadcasting Company, Big Thicket Broadcasting, and Mapleton Broadcasting to VS3 (Vipology Smart Speaker System), via Amazon’s Alexa.
