Dwayne and Marilyn Banks, owners of Marilyn’s Gift Gallery in Waco, have been caught operating an illegal radio station from a commercial suite in Waco at 107.3-FM. The Federal Communications Commission will meet on Tuesday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. and item #6 on the agenda is the Elimination of Main Studio Rule. The Commission will consider a Report and Order eliminating the rule that requires each AM, FM, and TV station to maintain a main studio located in or near its community of license.

In supplemental comments filed with the FCC, the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council says the Main Studio Rule is bad for minority broadcasters because it imposes a greater disadvantage on broadcasters who entered the industry later and were unable to assemble clusters of stations that each shared the same community license.
