Conservative talk radio host Larry Elder has announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Elder, who unsuccessfully sought to replace California Governor Gavin Newsom in a recall election last year. He made the announcement on Fox News on Thursday.

Spanish Broadcasting System is set to purchase Houston gospel station KROI from Urban One for $7.5 million. Urban One is selling the station to meet FCC ownership limits after purchasing Cox Media Group's four stations in the Houston market for $27.5 million earlier in April.

A vacant radio station in San Bernardino, California was destroyed by a fire on Wednesday, April 19. Per the San Bernardino Sun, fire crews were called to the area at around 1:50p. The building used to belong to Salem Media Group's San Bernardino/Inland Empire stations.

The man put on trial for the murder of a Detroit-area radio news anchor will be sentenced for his killing. Arthur Williamson has pleaded no contest to the first-degree murder of WWJ-AM's Jim Matthews, who was found dead in September, as well as assault with intent to murder, and unlawful imprisonment.

On Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission proposed new rules to enhance the Wireless Emergency Alerts system. These rules aim to make the alerts available in over a dozen languages, include thumbnail-sized images and location-aware maps in alerts, and more.
