ESPN Chicago Returns As Notre Dame Flagship

As part of the just-announced multi-year deal, ESPN Chicago 1000 will broadcast every Notre Dame football and men’s basketball game beginning with the 2016-17 seasons. The station previously carried the games from 1999-2005. WLS carried the games up until this new deal.

WGN Wins Big Award

The Chicago station was named the 2016 Station of the Year by the Illinois Broadcasters Association at the Silver Dome Awards held earlier this month. It was the ninth year in a row WGN Radio was named the Chicago Market Station of the Year. WGN Radio also earned first-place awards in six additional categories.

Ohio Station Knocked Off The Air By Lightning

According to a post on the station website, WMOH-AM in Hamilton, Ohio, was knocked off the air due to a lightning strike Tuesday and only able to broadcast online. GM Chris Theiss says both the main transmitter and the backup were damaged by the strike. Engineers were working to get the signal back on the air Tuesday. The station continued to broadcast online

NAB Breaks Ground On New Facility

The new headquarters will be located at 1 M Street SE, in Washington, D.C. The new 10-story, 130,000-square-foot building is expected to be completed by Fall of 2018. The NAB has been at its current location, 1771 N St NW, since 1947. The NAB streamed the event from Monday and you can view it HERE.

ESPN, Entercom Get Rams Games

The Los Angeles Rams have signed a five-year agreement with ESPNLA 710AM, which will serve as the Rams’ official home and flagship radio partner. The team has also reached a multi-year agreement with Entercom’s The Sound 100.3FM which will simulcast game-day broadcasts and serve as the Rams’ official FM home.

Lowes Jumps Back Into Top Three

Having to compete with the consistently number one radio advertiser from its own category Lowes had an aggressive run on the radio last week, airing nearly 31,000 commercials on radio stations all across the country, according to Media Monitors. The Home Depot was number one again at 59,084. GEICO stayed at number two, airing 38,315 spots. Rounding out the top five were AutoZone with 30,479 and Walgreens with 29,097.

iHeart Launches Private Programmatic Marketplace

The private marketplace will be the company's own inventory on iHeartRadio. Advertisers will be able to programmatically target iHeartRadio’s audience using a combination of first- and third-party data segments. In addition to custom stations, iHeart's 858 radio stations are streamed for free to listeners on the iHeartRadio app. iHeartMedia's private marketplace will be powered by AdsWizz.
