Urban One is selling WPZR-FM (Praise 102.7) in Detroit to Educational Media Foundation for $12.7 million. EMF CEO Mike Novak tells Radio Ink the company will put its K-LOVE format on that frequency.

After a mini-retirement, Mike Francesa was back on the air at WFAN Tuesday afternoon. He said it was nice to be back and a little surprising to be back. He also said, "I missed doing the show, I admit it." Francesa said he wasn't going to go through everything that went on because "some of it is none of your business."

Of course, that's assuming one of your radio stations even has a News Director these days. According to the 2018 RTNDA/Hofstra Newsroom Survey, small market news directors are making $30,000 per year. In medium markets, they are making $35,000. In large markets the salary jumps to $53,000. And in major markets, the median salary for a news director is $82,500.

The National Association of Broadcasters is now accepting nominations for the 2018 NAB Marconi Radio Awards, and will do so until May 31. The awards recognize overall excellence and performance in radio.

Entercom has launched sports content on KGMZ-AM in San Francisco. The station will simulcast content from sister station 95.7-FM 'THE GAME'. The station had been under an LMA, programming Radio Zindagi, an entertainment and information format targeting the 280,000 South Asians in the Bay Area.

iHeartMedia Chicago's BIG 95.5 presented Jason Aldean, Back to the Bar with three-time and reigning ACM “Entertainer of the Year" Jason Aldean, at Joe's on Weed St. on Sunday, April 29. The event raised over $32,000 with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for Breast Cancer research.

According to a new SEC filing, three of Cumulus' top executives earned a combined $8.8 million in 2017 with all three executives more than doubling their income in one year. With over $2 billion in debt, Cumulus has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since late last year.

The company announced its Q4 2017 and full-year revenue Monday with iHeartMedia (radio) gaining 0.3%, or $2.7 million, in Q4 and 1.2%, or $39.9 million, for the year. The increase in Q4 is iHeart's 19th consecutive quarter of revenue growth in its radio division.
