During a three-day stay at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, myTalk 107.1 (KTMY) hosts and producers broadcast live while learning how to be gate agents, baggage handlers, and manage duty-free shops, and the effort paid off for four local charities.
Project Down & Dirty challenges the Hubbard Media that Connects station’s hosts and producers to produce an event or immerse themselves in a project to raise money for local charities. Past editions include PD&D Dance, PD&D The Musical, PD&D Comedy, PD&D Zookeeper, and PD&D Construction.
Over 16 years, the fundraiser has raised more than $1,567,000 for Minnesota charities. This year’s efforts collected $132,000 for Wishes and More, Jack’s Basket, Tubman, and the MSP Airport Foundation.
myTalk 107.1 Brand and Content Director Amy Daniels commented, “For three days the staff of myTalk 107.1 donated their time to work at the MSP airport, tell important stories about the people that work there, and entertain and inform myTalkers. Most importantly, they brought to life our four charity partners. Their missions, their people and the love and humanity they bring to the Twin Cities. The Twin Cities is a place we all love – and I heard from listeners on Friday that the airport and the stories you told made them all walk a little taller and feel proud to live in this place.”
Hubbard Broadcasting President and Minnesota Region Manager Dan Seeman added, “myTalk 107.1 demonstrated the power of radio once again this year when they hosted their 16th annual Project Down & Dirty. Special thanks to the myTalk hosts and producers who give up three days to move to a hotel and immerse themselves in a PD&D project. I can tell you that it has a direct effect on making lives better for our listeners and fans in Minnesota.”
