Cumulus Media Kansas City’s 101 The Fox (KCFX) teamed up with the Community Blood Center to hold its first blood drive on August 11. The Classic Rock station’s “Rock & Roll Up Your Sleeves Blood Drive” drew 124 donors and collected 114 units of blood.
The inaugural event was held in the Vinyl Room at Live Nation’s Morton Amphitheater, which opened in June. KCFX Listeners who stopped by and got poked were treated to limited-edition event t-shirts and were entered to win tickets to upcoming shows at the venue.
Since its inception in 1958, the not-for-profit Community Blood Center has served as a regional lifeline, providing blood to over 70 hospitals throughout Greater Kansas City, eastern Kansas, and western Missouri.
Cumulus Kansas City Operations Manager Jim Fox said, “The listeners of 101 The Fox never cease to amaze me. They heard our message of need and activated in force; some taking the day off work to give to their community.”
