A Baltimore-bred radio host and syndicator of The Grunge Garage and The Britpop Show is being remembered as, “a light in so many people’s lives, both personally and through his radio career,” after Bob Stei’s unexpected death on August 13, his daughter said.

Stei got his on-air start in Baltimore at 98 Rock (WIYY) in the early 1990s, going on to hold shifts at Townsquare Classic Rock 105.7 The Hawk (WCHR) in Ocean/Monmouth, NJ; 98.7 The Coast (WCZT); and The Rattler Rocks (KBSZ) in Phoenix. He also spent more than 15 years in business development, including as a recruiter with Media Staffing Network, which he left in 2019. He built his own show, The Grunge Garage, into a nationally syndicated program.

In March, Stei joined Seaboard Networks as Marketing Solutions Consultant under CEO Steve Clendenin. As of this month, Stei was preparing to add a weekend shift on Bay Rock, Seaboard’s new Baltimore classic rock streaming station.

Clendenin said, “We are all shocked and heartbroken by the news. Bob was a valued colleague and friend, and his loss is being felt deeply across our team.”
