Townsquare Now Has a Blueprint for Licensing Its CRM Software

Townsquare Media’s second-quarter earnings call produced more than the usual round of revenue numbers. CEO Bill Wilson used the call to disclose that the company has signed its first technology licensing deal for the in-house CRM platform built for its own sales team.

The expanded partnership with SummitMedia for the Blueprint platform was not mentioned in Townsquare’s written earnings release; Wilson raised it in his prepared remarks to analysts, saying, “SummitMedia’s decision to adopt our in-house developed CRM software for their own sales team is strong third-party validation of our innovation and further differentiates us from the competition.”

Wilson described Blueprint as more than a customer database, telling analysts on the call that the tool provides “lead flow” by automatically routing prospects to account executives “based on geo, based on zip code,” along with marketing spend tracking and reporting.

SummitMedia was Townsquare’s first Media Partnerships client when the companies struck their original digital advertising alliance in October 2024, giving the broadcaster access to Townsquare Ignite’s programmatic ad platform across its nine markets and launching SummitMedia’s own digital arm, Summit Interactive.

On the call, Wilson said Townsquare is in talks with its other 15 media partners about licensing Blueprint and other internally built tools, including systems the company uses for customer service and reporting. “I believe it can be a meaningful contribution to the overall revenue and profitability,” Wilson told analysts, adding that licensing revenue could help push the Media Partnerships division past its existing target of $50 million in revenue at a 20% profit margin within four years.

Beyond the direct revenue, Wilson framed licensing as a retention tool during the Q&A portion of the call for a roster that now includes Steel City Media, Renda Media, Broadway Media, and North American Broadcasting Company alongside SummitMedia, and Wilson said deepening the technology relationship makes partners “even more ingrained” with Townsquare over time.

Wilson also used the call to update Media Partnerships’ growth trajectory: $1 million in revenue in 2024, its first year, growing to $6 million in 2025. He said the division is on pace to more than double that figure again in 2026, extending Townsquare’s digital programmatic footprint to 115 markets when combined with its 74 owned markets.
