Twenty-five public radio and TV groups across the country are set to begin training in the Advanced Track of the Digital Transformation Program, a six-month initiative aimed at strengthening their digital operations and community connections.

The program, which starts June 4 and runs through November, is delivered by the Poynter Institute and funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Backed by a $5 million grant, the three-year initiative includes Fundamentals and Advanced tracks. The first phase, completed in 2023, helped generate $3.1 million in new digital revenue and reached over 10 million new digital users.

Radio stations participating in the 2025 Advanced Track include WABE in Atlanta, Koahnic Broadcast Corporation in Anchorage, AK, Texas Public Radio in San Antonio, and Yellowstone Public Radio, among others. A full list of participants is available via CPB.

The DTP helps public broadcasters expand audience engagement, enhance digital revenue strategies, and develop analytics skills to better understand local listener behavior. The Advanced Track is designed for stations that have already completed earlier phases of digital transformation training, with a focus on growth and long-term sustainability.

The initiative builds on a previous phase of DTP launched in 2022-2023, which served 79 public media organizations and nearly 460 personnel. The full second phase aims to support up to 225 station leaders and staff over three years.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting President and CEO Patricia Harrison said, “Through this program, public media stations will further develop innovative digital strategies and use data to create and distribute unique local public media content and services across platforms, reaching and serving new audiences. The Advanced Track will help stations enhance their digital presence.”

Poynter Institute President Neil Brown added, “Poynter is pleased to welcome back these public media professionals to the program as part of our partnership with CPB. We’re proud to be able to help these stations take their digital focus to the next level and build deeper connections with their community as well as grow revenues to strengthen their financial foundations.”
