Cumulus Media syndicated personality Dan Bongino has been appointed as the new Deputy Director of the FBI. President Donald Trump announced his selection of the Conservative talker and former Secret Service agent on Sunday night on social media.
“Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel,” posted Trump.
“He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve,” he added.
Cumulus Media has announced his final show for the time being will air on Friday, March 14. No programming replacement plans for affiliates have been announced at this time.
A Cumulus Media spokesperson told Radio Ink, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dan Bongino on his decision to take on the role of Deputy Director of the FBI. Dan has entertained and informed tens of millions of listeners every day and we are grateful for our successful partnership. We look forward to welcoming Dan back in the future.”

In November, reports surfaced that Trump was considering Bongino to lead the Secret Service. That role would be given to Sean Curran instead. In December 2023, the host re-signed a multi-year deal with Westwood One to continue hosting The Dan Bongino Show and his daily podcast under the Cumulus Podcast Network, despite previous criticism of Cumulus’ vaccine mandate.
Since its 2021 debut, Bongino’s Westwood One syndicated radio show has expanded from 115 affiliates to over 350.
In its Q4 earnings call, the company reported an expected revenue loss of $15 million in 2025 tied to Bongino.
