As of January 1, the Christmas music is out and new formats are popping up. A trio of stations from northern NY all the way out to Idaho are among those making changes, playlist adjustments, and rebranding efforts to start the new year.

Illiad Starts A Sunny New Odyssey

Iliad Media Group has cooled Twin Falls, ID signal KIRQ from Hot AC Q106.7 to traditional Adult Contemporary as the new Sunny 106.7. KIRQ will now feature syndicated mornings with Murphy, Sam & Jodi. Local personality Lena will host afternoon drive.

Iliad Media CEO Darrell Calton shared, “We are constantly evolving to align with our listeners’ changing tastes. Sunny 106.7 is a testament to our commitment to delivering radio content that truly resonates with the Twin Falls community. We’re thrilled about the new directions and deeper connections this change will create with our audience.”

Binnie’s Wave Hits Maine

In Maine, Binnie Media launched soft-rock 99.3 The Wave on WBQQ, which was previously carrying a simulcast of 99.9 The Wolf (WTHT). The York County station now features Stevie Wonder, The Carpenters, Lionel Richie, The Bee Gees, and Linda Ronstadt.

Binnie Media Vice President of Programming Heath Cole said, “99.3 The Wave takes pride in introducing a soft rock format to the airwaves of Maine, addressing a sentiment that resonates with many. We are delighted to offer a station that is tailor-made for the residences and businesses of York County, catering to the discerning listeners in these remarkable towns.”

In New York’s North Country, NBZ Recommits

Independently owned and operated 106.3 NBZ (WNBZ) in Saranac, NY has made a grand re-entry into the airwaves, refreshing its Classic Hits playlist to reflect a more diverse range. As part of the change, NBZ’s management is placing a strong emphasis on personality driven radio.

As such, the morning slot will now be hosted by Woodhouse, following the retirement  of long-time host Jim Gratton, who will remain at the station in a fill-in capacity. Dylan Ayer replaces Woodhouse at middays. Ronnie Ramone is joining the station from Columbia, SC’s  WTCB for afternoons. Ramone was previously Operations Manager of Hall Communications in Lancaster, PA.

Owner Bill Dickerson will continue his weekend shows every Saturday and Sunday, and Worship with Pastor Ric will maintain its Sunday morning slot.
