Phoenix’s radio community is mourning the loss of Duane Weaver, known on-air as Super Snake, who passed away in the early morning hours of December 30. Snake most recently hosted nights at Desert Valley Media Group’s KMVA and KZON since 2022.

Super Snake’s radio career started at KGFJ-AM in Los Angeles, before working in New York, Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco, among several other major markets. He always bounced back and forth between his hometown of Phoenix in several stints with multiple groups. He spent a decade at Riviera Broadcast Group’s KKFR in Phoenix, also working at sister station KZON, formerly KPTY, and iHeartMedia’s KZZP. He held additional roles at Sierra H Broadcasting’s KNRJ and KAJM.

Super Snake’s family shared, “We are devastated by this unexpected loss. Snake had the ability to make you feel like he was everyone’s best friend because he was larger than life. We will continue to honor Snake’s legacy and ask for privacy at this time. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with support.”
