Jennifer Ferro, the CEO of Los Angeles public radio KCRW, has been elected as the Chair of the NPR Board of Directors. Ferro joined the board in 2018, and her tenure at KCRW has been marked by significant transformations by the station into a global brand.
The NPR Board of Directors consists of 23 members, including 12 Member Directors who are managers of NPR Member stations elected by their peers, 9 Public Directors who are distinguished public individuals selected by the Board and confirmed by NPR Member stations, the NPR Foundation Chair, and the NPR President & CEO.
Under Ferro, KCRW completed a $50 million capital campaign and relocated to its first independent, modern facility. The station also expanded its presence through podcasts, original content, live streams, and a successful mobile app.
In addition to her role at KCRW, Ferro is a Senior Fellow for the UCLA Luskin School of Public Policy and serves on the board of Marfa Public Radio, a pioneering public station in rural west Texas. She is also a board member of the Trusteeship/International Women’s Forum for Southern California. Her accolades include the UCLA Award for public service and being named one of the 500 Most Influential People in LA by the LA Business Journal.
