On Wednesday, Hofstra University’s WRHU partnered with various college and high school stations across Long Island and neighboring states for a day-long marathon collaboration. Each participating station contributes an hour of programming to the simulcast, creating a mega radio platform for the duration.

WRHU staff were joined by student personalities from six college radio stations in New York and New Jersey, including Long Island University’s WCWP, alongside high school stations WPOB of Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School and WKWZ of Syosset High School. WRHU’s Chief Audio Engineer Andrew Gladding organized the event.

The broadcast was created to celebrate the enduring legacy of college radio, celebrating the human element of radio and how student-run stations remain a training ground for the music industry, with ties to independent artists and mainstream giants alike.
