Cumulus Media has announced the return of Steve Craig to 99X (WNNX) as Program Director and Midday Host. Previously at 99X from 1992-2007, Craig’s re-entry marks the reunion of the original on-air team at the Atlanta-based rock radio station.
Craig just concluded a 10-year run with Cox Media Group Atlanta’s Classic Hits station 97.1 The River (WSRV), and his rehiring at 99X comes as a continuation of the station’s December 2022 relaunch. The station’s renaissance includes the return of original 99X morning hosts Leslie Fram and Steve Barnes, as well as Will Pendarvis on Afternoon Drive. Craig’s midday show will feature new content alongside classic segments like “Steve’s College of Musical Knowledge”.
Cumulus Media Chief Content Officer Brian Philips recognized Craig, saying, “With wit, unsurpassed music knowledge, and total devotion to his craft, Steve Craig has held the imagination of huge Atlanta audiences for nearly three decades.”
Craig himself expressed enthusiasm for his return, saying, “To do what you love and do it again with your closest friends and the most dedicated, loyal listeners is beyond belief! We are 99X!”
