New York sports broadcaster Michael Kay could retire his ESPN Radio program in the near future, according to a report.

On Thursday, The New York Post reported Kay is contemplating a retirement from the station, WEPN (98.7 FM), where he has hosted the weekday afternoon drive program since the station flipped to sports talk in 2012.

According to the Post, Kay’s contract with WEPN ends in September, and he has told station officials that he intends to step away at that time. WEPN wants to keep Kay at the station and has pursued an extension of his contract, the Post said. The information was attributed to unnamed sources.

After the Post’s story was published, Kay told listeners that they will be the first to know when a decision is reached.

“I can honestly tell you that no decision has been made,” he said.
