The home of the Nevada Broadcasters Association went up in flames Monday night when fire raced through a multi-story office building it shares with several other businesses near the Las Vegas Strip.

Eric Bonnici, VP of the Association raced to the scene when he heard the news. Bonnici told KVVU-TV. “We spend most of our time here, probably more so than home, so to turn on the news and see that your home is up in flames is pretty devastating.”

Mitch Fox, President and CEO of the Association, told the Las Vegas Review Journal that you take things for granted and something like this puts it into perspective. “There are personal mementos, awards, signed photos, and other things that can’t be replaced.”

Fox said the loss is saddening, but his staff are already picking up the pieces and moving forward. “Think if this had happened 15, 20 years ago, or even just 10 years ago,” he said. “Every business has paper files, but now we have DropBox, the cloud, the Internet. We didn’t lose everything.”

Bonnici, talking with KLAS-TV, said the Association is still in business. “We will do our due dilligence and continue to serve the state and our member stations from a remote location until we can find another place.”

Fox says the Association is getting a lot of support. “I’ve received numerous calls from people, including broadcast station managers, county commissioners, and Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, offering up office space and resources while the Association gets back on its feet.”
