Univision’s Molina Was Only 48 When He Died

Alejandro Nieto Molina, who was just appointed SVP and GM of Univision Radio in late January, died suddenly of a heart attack at age 48. Univision EVP/Technology, Operations, and Engineering John Eck, who is also the company’s chief local media officer, said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden loss of our colleague. He was new to the Univision family, but many of us knew and respected him. His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.”

Nieto Molina took the newly created post of SPV/GM for Univision Radio on January 25, reporting to Eck. He was a radio veteran who began his career as a DJ, then went on to created successful radio formats in his native Columbia. He also hosted and directed news and talk programs for Caracol Colombia and was eventually transferred by that company to Miami as VP of programming for Prisa Radio. He came to Univision after a stint as CEO of Cadena SER, the premier radio network in Spain.
