Burke Rewarded By WYAY-FM Atlanta

Cumulus re-signs talker Shannon Burke to a multi-year deal on NewsRadio 106.7/WYAY-FM in Atlanta. His weekday program airs 9 a.m.-12 Noon. Burke joined WYAY in July 2016, after winning over the station’s listeners as audience favorite in NewsRadio 106.7’s casting call, which was three weeks of auditions for Atlanta’s newest talk radio personality.

Pai Hands Pelkey Press Secretary Postion

The FCC chairman has appointed Tina Pelkey as his Press Secretary. She will report to the director of the FCC’s Office of Media Relations. Pelkey most recently served as Senior Vice President at Black Rock Group. She previously worked in Brussels, Belgium, for Weber Shandwick, a global public relations firm. Prior to that, she worked at DCI Group and served as National Press Secretary for Senator John Cornyn of Texas.

Kaufman To Cumulus To Work On Inventory Management

Cumulus appoints John Kaufman Senior VP for Revenue Strategy and Operations. It's a new position created for Kaufman. The company says he will lead the optimization of revenue at Cumulus with a focus on pricing and inventory management for both Westwood and the Cumulus radio stations. Kaufman has worked for iHeart, Starwood Hotels, Priceline, and American Airlines. He'll report directly to CEO Mary Berner.

Cox Atlanta Gets A New GSM

As of July 31, Mark Turcotte will be the new General Sales Manager for CMG Atlanta. For the past seven years, Turcotte has been GSM for Midwest Communications in Nashville. He's worked in Atlanta before as the National Sales Manager and Local Sales Manager at CBS' WZGC-FM. He also had a run as the Atlanta-based NSM for CMG Radio's then-Birmingham stations.

Haze Stepping Up As STAR 94.1 Program Director

iHeartMedia San Diego’s Joe Haze has added a new role to his duties with the company. Haze has been named PD for STAR 94.1. Haze currently serves as PD for Channel 93.3 and afternoon drive host for STAR 94.1. In his newly expanded role, he will serve as PD for both Channel 93.3 and STAR 94.1, and continue as afternoon drive host on STAR 94.1.

Harvey Taking His Radio Crew On TV

The Steve Harvey Morning Show recently clocked up its 100th affiliate. Now Harvey has decided to take the entire cast of his radio show to appear on his daytime TV program The Steve Harvey Show today. The crew includes Shirley Strawberry, Nephew Tommy, Junior, Carla Ferrell, Mississippi Monica, and the newest edition to the show, J. Anthony Brown.

Holland Out in St. Louis

Longtime St. Louis host Tammie Holland is gone from KMJM-FM. Holland and iHeartMedia parted ways last week, according to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Her last day on the air was Thursday July 6 and her final words on the air were "Stick a fork in me, I'm done." She hosted the 9 a.m. -2 p.m. shift on the Hip Hop station.
